You’re planning the big day. You will be the star of the show, and all eyes will be on you. The dress will fit perfectly, the flower girls will be gorgeous, and you will float down the aisle to your beloved in a cloud of chiffon and smiles. This imagined film reel grinds to a screeching halt as you imagine any of the following genuine spoilers. Your yellowed teeth, missing tooth, or crooked teeth. Every bride deserves to look and feel her best on the big day, and a bride’s smile is no less important than the beautiful gown she wears. Smile your way down the aisle and into your new, married life with some advice from Bradford Family Dentistry.
Teeth Straightening is No Longer Just for Kids
If you missed the braces bandwagon and you’ve lived with crooked teeth, there’s still time to get adult braces. Depending on your teeth, braces do not need to be a long-term commitment. Each case is different, but the average is somewhere between 12 months and two years, but FastBraces can sometimes reduce this to as little as 3 months. You’ll be amazed at the progress that has been made in orthodontics and what we can do for you. An interesting result of wearing braces that many people don’t realize, is how dramatically your facial profile can change as the braces shape and correct your teeth.
Fast Braces for Brides in a Hurry
Maybe you don’t have the time to invest in braces because you’ve been so busy planning the big day that your teeth were sidelined in all the other preparations. Fear not, Bradford Family Dentistry to the rescue. We are one of the only dental clinics in the area to offer FASTBRACES. Danthron Viazis created these in 1992, and thousands of people have benefited from this treatment. Because the treatment isn’t new, you can be sure that it’s safe and effective. In fact, for some people, FASTBRACES are so good that they may only be needed for three months. The average time, however, is a little less than 12 months.
FASTBRACES speed up the straightening process because they are square and made from super-elastic, nickel-titanium wire. The heat from your mouth is what triggers the movement of the wire and teeth. Unlike traditional braces, which take one year to target the crown of the tooth and another to target the root, FASTBRACES correct the crown and the root, which is what makes them fast. This is a great option for brides on a timeline towards the big day.
Invisalign: The Invisible Solution
Practical, safe, and effective, clear aligners are so close to invisible you’ll wonder if they’re really there. The material is clear acrylic, which is molded exactly to model the shape and size of your teeth. Invisalign has a similar shape to a custom mouth guard or teeth-whitening tray. Similar to wire braces, the aligners work to bring your teeth into proper alignment without the metal, wires, and elastics necessary with traditional braces. This course of treatment requires a regular commitment to have the aligners replaced about every two weeks. I’m sure you’ll agree, however, it’s worth it in the long run.
The best part about Invisalign is that you can remove the aligners when you eat, floss, or brush your teeth. This is important because you avoid the typical problems associated with braces such as trapped food, resulting in bacteria or stains that then need to be removed when your braces are taken off. Though you’ll need to wear the aligners for the same period of time as traditional braces (about 24 months), the aftercare will be faster.
The Pearly Whites
Nothing says bride like a big, white smile that matches your dress. If you’ve never had your teeth whitened, you’re in for a real treat. Some people are better candidates for whitening than others, and a certain amount of its success rests upon genetics and your personal habits. If you are a smoker who drinks black coffee and loves red wine, your teeth will probably never whiten up in the same way as a nonsmoking, water lover. That said, you will notice a difference, and you’ll be proud to show off your smile on your special day.
For the big day, don’t overlook your teeth. Your photos will always be a reminder that you could have (or should have) ensured your teeth were their personal best.
