CEREC Machine: Bradford’s Newest Addition!

Check out Bradford Family Dentistry’s newest gadget: the CEREC machine!

This state-of-the-art machine allows us to make porcelain dental crowns in the office rather than sending our scans to a lab in a separate location. The result? Each client who needs a dental crown makes one appointment instead of two!

How Does the CEREC Work?

This advanced technology combines digital impressions and computer scanning to customize the milling and molding of your dental crown, all in 20 minutes!

What is the Procedure?

  • As usual, the dentist prepares the tooth for a crown overlay.
  • Next, rather than making a wax mold of your teeth, the CEREC uses a camera to take a photo. This photo is uploaded to the design unit within the system.
  • With the CEREC computer software, Dr. Chai creates a 3-dimensional model of your tooth. This 3D model becomes the blueprint for your porcelain crown.
  • The on-site milling machine then creates the physical, porcelain crown and voila!

Your dental crown is ready to be put in place.

If you’re curious to see this machine in action, check out this story about a lioness, Naomi, in the Ree Park Safari in Denmark last April. Doctors and the CEREC worked together to restore a carnassial tooth for this queen of the jungle.

While we certainly don’t intend on treating any lions around here, we are confident that the CEREC will prove helpful within our clientele.

Does Insurance Cover the Costs?

Yes! Insurance still covers the cost of this porcelain crown.

We are thrilled to be able to offer our clients this service and hope it just continues to improve the patient experience at Bradford Family Dentistry.
